-April 10, 2008- NWA WORLD TITLE REMATCH SIGNED! Wayne vows: Pearce Ain't Leaving Virginia with MY Belt! (King and Queen County, VA) In a fantastic development, the NWA in Virginia has inked a deal with the national NWA office to bring an NWA World Title match back to Virginia. For this event, NWA World Champion Adam Pearce will return to Virginia to once again face someone who took him to the limit, and that is NWA Continental Champion 'Mr. Mid-Atlantic' Damien Wayne! "This time the so-called World Champion will NOT be leaving MY area with MY World title," said the popular DW, "He got lucky the last time in Saluda. This time, I'm taking him to the limit and beyond. He's going down." The promoter for the NWA in Virginia, Rick OBrien, added,"If Magnum TA, several people in the WWE, and several talent scouts from TNA all say that he just needs a break to go big time, he CERTAINLY is capable and able enough to win the NWA World Championship from Adam Pearce. Look, I'm neutral in this match, but wouldn't it be something to see DW defeat Pearce and win the NWA World Title in Virginia, a strong hold of NWA tradition and history? I have goose-bumps just thinking about the possibility! Pearce had better not look past DW towards Albright because it could very simply be DW vs. Albright for the NWA World Title, even if DW isn't on The Showcase." Pearce couldn't be reached for comment, but his manager, Vander Pyle had this to say,"Damien Wayne, Damien Wayne...what's the big deal? He's some biker dude wearing leather pants who doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as THE GREATEST NWA World Champion of all time. You journalistic hacks don't honestly believe your smark enough to THINK DW has a shot do you?" His laughter echoed through-out the lockerroom area. On the undercard is a rematch between The Old School Empire, Preston Quinn and King and Queen resident Mike Booth as they battle the very popular Geordie Bulldogs, Sean Denny and Markie D! Central HS graduate Grail returns to battle NWA Alpha Champion Rex Sterling who will have Kameo in his corner. The matches take place May 10, at King and Queen County's Central HS which is located at 17024 The Trail, King and Queen C. H., Virginia 23085. Tickets for ringside are just about SOLD OUT. Tickets for General Admission are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. This is combined fundraiser for Central High School and Lawson Marriott Elementary School. -April 6, 2008- Chris Escobar Seeks California Gold! 'Pure Talent' Run Out of Virginia Debuts on NWA Showcase (San Bernardino, Ca) 'Pure Talent' Chris Escobar hadn't been seen in several weeks. He lost a match against nemesis Grail at the NWA's Gold & Glory show in Saluda, Virginia. Unbeknownst to Escobar, Kameo, the sexy vixen that rules NWA Underground, signed the match to be a 'Loser Leave Virginia' match. And then she didn't show up for the match. Gold & Glory was turning out to be a good night for Escobar and the rest of NWA Underground. Sure, Kameo was missing in action, allegedly home sick with the flu, but Janus won a battle royal and an opportunity to face Damien Wayne at a later show in King and Queen County Elementary School. Sure, his partner Rex Sterling was missing the show due to a skin rash, but Escobar was about to face Grail for the NWA Alpha Championship. Escobar had defeated Grail numerous times in the past, including on the NWA Action Zone. Escobar was confident. "Janus is going to win his match, and I'm going to win mine," said the cocky Escobar. Unfortunately, the night didn't turn out that way. He had secured the services of Timmy Danger to take the place of Kameo. But a series of gaffes between the two allowed Grail to successfully defend the NWA Alpha Championship. It was then that Escobar found out about the 'Loser Leave Virginia' stipulation. The matches will air on Episode 11 of NWA World Wide Wrestling [found at NWAWorldWideWrestling.net or TheSuperStation.TV ]. 'Pure Talent' Chris Escobar was a wrestler without a home. He went into seclusion and re-evaluated his life, his career, and his priorities. He realized that if he wanted to wrestle, he would have to leave the Mid Atlantic. But where to go? No one knew where Escobar had gone. That is, until the latest episode the NWA Showcase [available at www.NWAWrestling.com]. "Pure Talent" Chris Escobar debuted in a winning effort against Dan Kobrick. He expressed his thoughts following his debut win. "I needed a change. I needed a change of pace, a change of scenary. I also needed an attitude change. [NWA Virginia Promoter Rick] OBrien tried to show me, he tried to tell me. I was mean and cold to the fans but after I lost the match against Grail, well....man...some of the fans were crying because I was leaving," said a completely different Escobar. Gone was the swagger and overconfidence. "When a fan named Victoria came up to me and hugged me, she was crying. Man, that had some effect on me. The fans actually cared about me. Don't get me wrong, Victoria wasn't the only fan either. Fathers with sons came up and shook my hand, thanking me for the memories. "I had an older lady come up to me and say that she was there when I won the first Magnum TA Memorial Cup and for this year's final where I lost to Damien Wayne. Whenever she saw my name on a poster or on the internet, she came to the show to see me. I need to respect that, and the fans who pay the money that pays my salary/ It really opened my eyes," concluded the exciting youngster. When he was asked what goals he had coming to the NWA in California and to NWA Showcase, his reply was simple, "I've come for Championship gold. As a former North American Tag Team Champion, I want singles gold. Whether it is [North American Champion] Dibiase, or [World Champion] Pearce, I know that all I need is an opportunity, and that's all I'm asking for." Check out 'Pure Talent' Chris Escobar in action on two shows. His debut on NWA Showcase can be found at www.NWAWrestling.com and on the NWA World Wide Wrestling can be found at NWAWorldWideWrestling.net or TheSuperStation.TV
-March 17, 2008- NWA Results from ATKINS ASSAULT (Atkins, Va) The National Wrestling Alliance presented an action packed, hard hitting night of professional wrestling for a great cause. The Atkins Voluteer Fire Department played host for the event, and the sell out, standing room only crowd was hot for the entire night. For several wrestlers, it was a return to a familiar stomping ground where fans love traditional grappling, and where new wrestlers to the area learned how old school wrasslin' really should be. The night was so successful that the wrestlers had to sit on tables in the changing area since all of the chairs in the building were being used in the area where the ring was set up! Not even that was sufficient as many fans stood for the entire show. A return date of October 18, 2008 was announced following intermission. Here are the results from the night's action: Sean Denny teamed with Brandon Day and defeated Krotch and Vulstag who had Shiek Ali Akbar in their corner. Day pinned Krotch following his End of Days Slam. Chris Dramin pinned 'Diamond' Victor Griff who was joined by his tag partner Carlos Hotness of Assault and Battery with some help from his own tag team partner Mike Vaughn. Mark Bravura continued his winning streak by defeating the returning former NWA APW Heavyweight Stan 'The Man' Lee. Mike Vaughn pinned Jeff Early with help from Chris Dramin. As the River City Rogues were beating down Early in a post match stomping session, Assault and Battery charged the ring and nailed RCR with some stiff tag team moves of their own. Commissioner Ryan Michaels then stated that on October 18, the Rogues will have to battle Assault and Battery in Atkins! In one of the most anticipated match ups of the evening, former championship tag partners Mikkie McMasters and DP Holliday mixed it up in a No Disqualifications match. McMasters couldn't wait to get his hands on his former friend and promised his faithful fans that he would end Holliday's treachery once and for all. Unfortunately, the one person overlooked by everyone was the referee. Holliday had McMasters in a scorpion leg lock when McMasters was about to reach the rope to break the hold referee Glenn Ballos called for the bell! Ballos stated that McMasters had submitted when clearly he hadn't. Ballos left the ring immediately after shaking hands with Holliday. It seems that Holliday had paid off referee Ballos! A Street Fight rematch is set for October 18 where a special guest referee will be appointed. Who will it be? While one grudge was continuing, another was apparently coming to a close. Scotty Blaze returned to Atkins and was looking for revenge against one half of the team that cost them the North American Tag Team Championships, 'Big Time' Mike Booth. Booth and his partner, Preston Quinn, won the North American straps in Charlotte, NC when Quinn blasted Blaze's wife Erotica D'Vine right in the head. This was Blaze's first attempt at exacting revenge from that night and he didn't let the opportunity pass him by. After 10 minutes of grueling see-saw action Blaze was able to hoist Booth up in a fireman's carry and nailed his finished 'Something Old, Something New' and pin Booth for the three count. Blaze then announced that October 18 would be his LAST match in Atkins, as his in ring career is coming to an end. In the main event, Sexy Kevina & Jamie Jannetty returned to Atkins and to ring action. In this match, they brought out their new manager Col Bob. Their opponents were the fan favorite Midnight Mauler and Steve Harris! They brought out their new manager Starlight! The match was hectic, fast paced and the crowd loved the antics. Starlight was enough to stop the nefarious deeds of Col. Bob, and Kevina wound up pinning Mauler, much to the disappointment of the crowd. However, Mauler recovered and chased the threesome from the ring, and demanded a CASKET match for their October 18 rematch! Several of the matches from this night of pro wrestling action will be featured on NWA World Wide Wrestling. That show can be found at www.NWAWorldWideWrestling.net and www.TheSuperstation.tv . Keep checking out NWA action by visiting www.NWAVirginia.com and www.NWAWrestling.com . -February 1, 2008- Former North American Tag Team Champion, Scotty Rocker, faces Challenge of Career!
(Roanoke, Va) Scotty Rocker(pictured standing to the left), former North American tag team Champion along with Scotty Blaze(pictured standing to the right), is facing the toughest match of his career...and it isn't even a foe in the ring.
"Last night I talked with my tag partner Scotty Rocker. He advised me that he might be finished in wrestling," said partner Scotty Blaze. "The reason is because of a bulging disk in his neck. One of his hands were going numb and the doc thought it was carpel tunnel. He had surgery to fix it."Then he started having numbness in his other hand. They did a MRI and it showed a bulging disk was causing the problem. I forget all the details he told me. Had something to with a narrowing passage and other stuff. Doc told him if he takes one bad fall, he could wind up a paraplegic. "He has a son to think about. As you can imagine, he is upset over all of this. There is a very slight chance he might be able to have the disk removed and fuse the vertebra like some of the wrestlers and football players have done. But not sure if that is a viable option. He is scheduled to get a 2nd opinion shortly. "He has is having his last match this weekend so he can say goodbye. It is for BWF here in VA and he is working Ricky Morton. Not a bad possible last match eh? "My thoughts and prayers are with him at this difficult time in his life. He has so much more to look forward to outside of wrestling, he just needs to realize it and he will given time. Heres to the best tag team partner I have ever had!!!!!!!!" NWA Promoter Rick OBrien responded with the following statement,"I met Scotty Rocker in Roanoke at the Star City Skate Center. I was impressed by his work, his attitude in the back with the boys, and his posture while speaking with me. Blaze had pushed Rocker to me, and at first, I wasn't too sure about him [I hadn't seen him in action yet]. "owever, after watching that match he had, a tag team encounter where his team lost, and with him suffering the pinfall as well, I was hooked on to Rocker. "We decided to team he and Blaze up when the feud between Pharaoh and Blaze took a nasty turn, and Blaze needed someone to help him even the odds. Rocker, Blaze's 'cousin', fit the bill nicely. "As time went by, Rocker fit in with our locker room like someone climbing into a warm bed on a cold winter's night. The fun and laughter were awesome, even if most of the ribs were on me. Blaze and Rocker were unable to defeat the Old School Empire for the Virginia State Tag Team titles, but they did defeat UNOD for the North American Tag Team Championship in Danville, at New Genesis. The reaction from both Blaze and Rocker was one of tremendous appreciation and understanding of the honor they had just obtained. "Blaze and Rocker would go on to defend those titles in numerous locations, against numerous tag team opponents in NC, Va, WVa, and [I think] Ohio. They defended them in NJ as well. "Rocker and Blaze created history by being in the ring with the World Tag Team Champions during the last of the TNA days in a match in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Team 3D battled Blaze & Rocker as well as the Old School Empire and Phil Brown & Malik in a 4 team elimination World Tag Team Title match. Ironically, it would be Scotty Blaze who was put through the table to end the match. However, for the first time in modern memory, the North American Tag Team Champions had been in the ring with the World Tag Team Champions. "Old opponents in the form of the Old School Empire would cause Blaze and Rocker to lose the straps in NC at the Legends' Convention, thanks to PQ using a fist on Blaze's wife. While Blaze seemed to be the lightning rod that attracted the attacks on the team, Rocker was a steadfast and solid partner. He always had Blaze's back. "The River City Rogues attacked Rocker after one of their title defenses prior to their NC loss. One has to wonder if the bulge in Rocker's neck is a result of the Rogues' attack on him. "Rocker and Blaze never had an opportunity for revenge against OSE, due to personal commitments and whatnot. Rocker and Blaze re-surfaced in the NWA in Atkins, Va for a top slot in the upcoming NWA Continental Tag Team Tournament. They faced the reunited Xtreme Outlaws and won when DP Holiday turned on his partner, Mikkie McMasters. The match was showcased on NWA World Wide Wrestling, Ep. 5. "As we await the 2nd doctor's opinion, we can only pray that whatever the outcome, Scotty Rocker continues to prosper in his personal life, with, or without professional wrestling. "If it is without professional wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance is all the poorer without such a fine, upstanding, young talent. One can only wonder how Pharaoh vs. Rocker, DW vs. Rocker, PQ vs. Rocker, Denny vs. Rocker, Brandon Day vs. Rocker...one can only wonder how awesome those matches will be...could be. "My hat is off to one man who is a true Champion, in and out of the ring. That man...Scotty Rocker." Please keep Scotty Rocker in your prayers. Well wishes can be sent to Rick OBrien at siwrcw03@comcast.net and will be forwarded to Scotty Rocker. |
