About NWA Virginia
Who We Are
NWA Virginia (National Wrestling Alliance) is a wrestling entertainment company, principally engaged in the development and marketing of charitable fundraising events with an eye on inner city youths through the community centers and schools, philanthropies geared toward disabilities and diseases, and children's and veteran's hospitals. NWA Virginia is headquartered in Richmond, VA. NWA Virginia - Global Traditions is steeped with over 15 years combined experience in promoting and wrestling, and enjoys the benefit of belonging to the oldest existing professional wrestling organization in the world. NWA Virginia was ranked the number one independent wrestling organization in the world in 2003 and 2004. (Tied with Bill Behrins' "NWA Wildside" which is broadcast in several pocketed markets within the eastern United States). NWA Virginia also consists of a collaboration of entities aimed at the marketing and distribution of T-shirts, DVDs and other forms of memorabilia. We have also had a great success in our combined endeavors with RockandWrestle.com, our partner in live Richmond music and wrestling events.
Entrepreneuriel Endurance
NWA Virginia - Global Traditions is a direct collaborative effort of 3, at one time separate, entities. NWA Virginia was founded by Rick O'Brien after he moved to Virginia from New York where he promoted and co-promoted for several years starting in the early nineteen nineties. GWA (Global Wrestling Alliance - which merged with NWA Virginia in 2003) was owned and operated by Kelly Adkins and Kyle Leach. Kelly Adkins had been involved with a very popular wrestling television show, Wrestling Power, where she served as a production assistant and camera person for several years before becoming a wrestler and starting GWA. Kyle Leach was involved as a wrestler and trainer for an independent wrestling group in Virginia and went on to serve as a co-promoter as well before starting GWA. Adkins and Leach took over a struggling group and transformed it into GWA for several years in the late 90's before merging into NWA Virginia - Global Traditions. NWA Virginia's combined involvement in the business of wrestling entertainment spans over 15 years. We have strived to develop NWA Virginia into the most popular independent professional wrestling entertainment organizations, with an emphasis on charitable fundraising, today.
Our Accomplishments
As the Virginia contingent of the National Wrestling Alliance, we have used our organization as a vehicle to promote live events with both, local up and coming talent and mainstream national talent. Recent years have seen NWA Virginia's involvement with fundraising efforts for community centers, schools, churches and an upcoming fundraiser for a young lady in dire need of a double lung transplant. In 2004 alone, NWA Virginia held 12 live events within Virginia, with an estimated 22 more, both inside and outside of Virginia, where NWA Virginia's wrestlers and promoters lent their talents to good causes. Of that 12 which NWA Virginia held, only 1 was for profit.
